Vacancy notice: ICT assistant



DUTY STATION:  UNICEF Maroua

PURPOSE OF POST:
Under the supervision of the ICT Offier, provide technical, operational and procedural support and end-user services in the implementation and support information management (systems, procedures and activities) of the office.
REPORTS TO:

Chief of Sub Office

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES and DUTIES & TASKS 

1.      Assist the Chief of sub office, in managing the Zonal Office network (LAN, WLAN, WAN), troubleshouting ad-hoc hardware and software problems experienced and monitoring continuous network and communications connectivity.

2.      Ensure installation and maintenance of computer and communications equipment. Arrange storage of equipment and consumable. Install projector in conference room or outside during office workshop.

3.      Assist in maintaining equipment inventory. Manage loan of equipment. Prepare weekly report in conference room or outside during office workshop.

4.      Assist in regularly maintaining software and system, such as upgrading and patching, according to global roll-outs. Monitor virus activity in the network and ensure regular update of virus signatures.

5.      Assist the Chief of sub office in developing the office training plan on computer software and application, based on computer software and application, based on organizational requirement and priorities, contribute to the preparation of user training manual and delivery of actual training.

6.       Assist in testing periodically the BCP equipment on recovery sites. Monitor good functionality of voice telephony network (fixed and mobile telephone) and HF/VHF radio networks, configure telephone extension, VHF handset and ensure HF is operational on zonal vehicles. Perfom weekly radio check.

7.      Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

Education:
Completion of secondary education supplemented with formal training (et University Level) in computer science, information systems and telecommunications or related discipline (s). Some industry wide vendor certification in a technically relevant filed would be an asset.

Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 (five) years of practical work experience in information technology, computer information management work, including experience in data processing applications, multi-user network and telecommunications, hardware/software installation, user assistance in support of office computerization, as well as systematic methods of troubleshooting and analytical problem solving, providing assistance to users on IT products and services, and use of applications and diagnostic tools.
Work experience in emergencies would be an asset.

 Languages:

Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English are required.
