BOOK LAUNCH ON BREASTFEEDING IN CAMEROON

ALL ABOUT BREASTFEEDING AND HOME -BASED NEWBORN CARE.

Dr. Adidja Amani AND Dr. Hassanatou Iyawa

In 2018 in Cameroon, about eight hundred and twenty thousand (820,000) babies will be born and live to the age of one month. These babies will need proper nutrition and care.

In fact, the studies carried out in the 10 regions of Cameroon have been able to identify a certain number of myths, misconceptions and practices that hinder the health and good development of babies and the health of their mothers. The purpose of this guide is to help inform all parents and pregnant women about the benefits of breastfeeding, and encourage them to practice it with the many tips available in this guide, but also to encourage recommended newborn care practices.
It is important to identify these prejudices and give tips for the women to excel as mother, wife, workers during this important period of the child's development.
This guide gives all the essential information needed to breastfeed your baby optimally. It is based on the latest scientific evidence, alongside the experiences of women who have breastfed and coupled the personal experience of the authors as a physician and a pediatrician. Mothers who believe and practice exclusive breastfeeding selflessly shared their experiences as well.
Nevertheless, it takes time for the mother to learn how to breastfeed optimally. Most new mothers need help. Back home, they tend to rely on the experience of
women around them. They will have advice: good and bad as well as the prejudices associated with breastfeeding.
We used our experiences to write this practical guide on all aspects of breastfeeding and home-based newborn care. Brimming with practical, professional advice and comforting encouragement, the All About Breastfeeding and Home Care Guide is a must-have for all moms, moms and dads. It will allow you to make breastfeeding a rewarding and memorable part of your baby's first life experiences.
