Women mobilization and engagement in Northern Cameroon

The purpose of the gathering was to brainstorm together on strategies to make women agents of change in their community.

It is a great privilege to seat with the #wisewomenand elders of the village. Great moment of sharing and heart to heart talk on women issues.
What struck me was that all their wishes wants and needs where not about them, but about their#daughters and #granddaughters. It was about giving a better future to their daughters.

heart to heart talk with the group of elders and wise women of the village. In contrast to the exchange with the youths where the focus was on themselves, the elders were more worried about making the community a better place for their sons and daughters. For example they highlight the HIV/AIDS problem particularly among young people, the high rate of unwanted pregnancies among adolescent girls that leads to complications including disruption of their education.
Contrary to some expert's belief stating that women from the Northern part of Cameroon are reluctant to contraception, these wise elders were requesting early contraception for their daughters and grand daughters.
