We can improve the life of Bili by providing a sustainable source of safe drinking water!
The population of Bili made of 2,000 inhabitants was the hardest hit by cholera epidemic in Cameroon. Our visit helped to understand that the biggest challenge they face is the lack of safe drinking water in the entire village; there is only one water source for the entire village, a pond.
Consequently both humans and animals drink at the same source; moreover animals defecate in the pond and humans clean, bathe in the pond.
The consequences are enormous such as higher drop out rate in school and less productive adults. We provided water sterilizing tablets and performed a mass deworming campaign.
Although there is a behavioral problem, it is just unacceptable to see people in 2016 , who still lack basic and indispensable commodities like drinking water. Bili needs urgently a safe and sustainable water source and really counts on your generosity
