AMANI, Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) specialist discusses the
importance of Exclusive Breastfeeding for infants.
In preparation
of the 2015 World Breastfeeding Week (1-7 August), the Cameroon radio and
television organized a discussion under the theme “exclusive breastfeeding in
Cameroon” with Dr Amani as the expert on the topic.
The statistics
show that, in Cameroon only 2 women out of 10 exclusively breastfeed their
infants for the first 6 months. The goal
of the Ministry of Public Health and its partners is to have 50% of Cameroonian
mothers breastfeeding exclusively their babies by 2020. This video discusses
the barriers, the beliefs, the benefits, and the various means of support that
can help a mother to practice exclusive breastfeeding.
